Barbara Gaynord
Barbara A. Gaynord, 91, of Middlesex Township, Valencia, passed away on Sunday evening, July 31, 2022, in the comfort of her home with her family at her side.
Born in Pittsburgh on March 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Barbara Oskamp Pelkofer.
Barb had been a secretary for the Diocese of Pittsburgh, the U.S. Air Force in Oakdale, the Army Corp of Engineers in Neville Island and finally for Kennihan Plumbing and Heating. She also worked at Steel City Motors and drove a school bus for the Richland School District.
She was a longtime member of Holy Sepulcher Church, where she was a bell-ringer and served on Parish Council. She had been president of PTG for 16 years.
She had been a Boy Scout mom and a Girl Scout leader.
Barb was a master gardener and also enjoyed painting and going to her card clubs.
She was the devoted mother of Barbara Aho of Lake Worth, Fla., Patricia Kennihan (William) of Middlesex Township, Michele Gaynord of Carnegie, Nora Miller (Matthew) of North Hills, Martin Gaynord III of Middlesex Township, Matthew Gaynord (Theresa) of New York City, N.Y., Mark Gaynord of Mars and Michael Gaynord (Diane) of Hawley; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; her brother, Frank Pelkofer Jr. (Melanie) of Karns City; and a daughter-in-law, Sherri Gaynord of Middlesex Township.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Gaynord Jr., whom she married on July 12, 1952, and who died in April 18, 2008; and by a sister, Joan Morgan.
GAYNORD — Friends of Barbara A. Gaynord, who died Sunday, July 31, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave. Mars.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Holy Sepulcher Church, 1304 E. Cruikshank Road, Butler (Glade Mills), with Fr. Charles Bober, pastor, officiating. Please meet at the church.
Burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
Memorials may be made to Holy Sepulcher School.
