Seneca Valley graduate Drew Snyder swam a leg of the Grove City College 200-meter freestyle relay that set a school-recrd time Thursday at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota.

Snyder, a freshman, joined Caleb Courage, Ben Haring and Tim Whitbeck in swimming the event in 1 minute, 21.99 seconds.

The quartet placed second nationally, earning All-America status. Defending national champion Kenyon (Ohio) College finished first in 1:21.68.

AMES, Iowa — Iowa State fired basketball coach Wayne Morgan and his staff Friday in the wake of a reported recruiting scam.Morgan's firing came two days after a report surfaced that a number of college basketball programs may have steered more than $100,000 to a California business run by a junior college coach.Morgan has a career record of 146-123 in nine seasons as a college coach.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Lucas Glover took the lead at the Bay Hill Invitational Friday with his second straight 5-under 67.He has a one-shot lead over Robert Allenby and Rod Pampling.More than a dozen players are within five shots of the lead going into the weekend.Tiger Woods wound up with a 1-under 71 to finish seven shots off the lead.

HAMPTON, Ga. — Bill Lester stole the show from pole-winner Kasey Kahne Friday at Atlanta Motor Speedway, earning a spot in the Golden Corral 500 to become the the first black driver to qualify for a race in NASCAR's top series in nearly 20 years.Lester, who qualified 19th, is the first black man to qualify for a Cup race since Willy T. Ribbs ran three events in 1986.Rounding out the top five at Atlanta were Jeff Burton, Bobby Labonte and rookie J.J. Yeley.

SUPERSTITION MOUNTAIN, Ariz. — Sarah Lee finished at 12-under Friday to grab a 1-stroke lead over Aree Song after two rounds of the Safeway International.Paula Creamer and Suzann Pettersen were tied for third.
