Abie Abraham, a survivor of the Bataan Death March in the Philippines during World War IF, was awarded Pennsylvania's Bronze Medallion of the Legion of Honor award by the Chapel of Four Chaplains.The award honors citizens for service to their community.Abraham, a retired Army master sergeant, has volunteered more than 30,000 hours to the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center since 1971. He was nominated for the award by Carmen Scialabba, a former award recipient.The Chapel of Four Chaplains was formed in memory of four Army chaplains who were serving aboard the USAT Dorchester when it was hit by an enemy torpedo and sank in the North Atlantic in February 1943. The chaplains are remembered for giving up their own life jackets to other soldiers.———
The <B>Butler Rotary Club</B> has announced that <B>Mark Fincher</B> of Butler is the winner of the Golf Ball Drop fundraiser held during the Butler Fall Festival.Fincher was awarded $1,000.Proceeds from the event, which exceeded $5,000, will go to the newly formed Butler Area Stand Tall Drug Awareness Program at Butler High School.For information, contact chairperson Jennifer Linn at 724-282-7222.———
