Homer B. Mercer Jr.
Homer B. Mercer Jr., 88, of Evans City passed away Sunday.
Born July 18, 1927, in Gibsonia, he was the son of the late Homer B. and Bertha (Lucas) Mercer.
Homer proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a sergeant during World War II.
He was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Evans City, where he assisted on Session.
Homer also belonged to the Harmony Lodge 429 F & M, serving as past master, and the American Legion of Evans City. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing and traveling. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and family. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 68 years, Madeline (Lacoskie) Mercer, who he married Feb. 13, 1947; his children, Dennis B. Mercer of New Hampshire and Renee Jan (Chuck) Cypher of Evans City; his sisters, Dorothy Salvaggio of Cranberry Township, Bertha Lee Miller of Valencia and Martha Jane Markle of Virginia; his grandchildren, Lisa (Anthony) Hollebrandt, Christine Seymour, Andrew Cypher, Benjamin Cypher and Christopher Cypher; and his great-grandchildren, Elayna, Jillian and Addison.
In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by his brother, James C. Mercer.
MERCER — The family of Homer B. Mercer Jr., who died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 116 E. Main St., Evans City. A Masonic service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday.A funeral service, accompanied by full military honors, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, 330 E. Main St., Evans City, with the Rev. Thomas Harmon, pastor, officiating.The family suggests memorial donations be made in Homer's honor to the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, 330 E.
