Jay Paul
Dr. Jay Paul, 76, of Worthington, died on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born on July 31, 1945, in Philadelphia, and was the son of the late Samuel and Beatrice Paul.
Jay was a member of the Public Health Service Corps. He attended Penn State University College of Medicine at Hershey Medical Center and earned his doctorate in medicine, representing the first “Pioneer Class” of the program. He went on to obtain his internal medicine and pulmonary specialties at Allegheny General Hospital.
He established Critical Care Associates in Butler, in 1979, acting as president. His career was spent at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital and Butler Memorial Hospital as a practicing pulmonologist and critical care specialist, until his retirement in 2007.
Jay enjoyed photography and woodworking, was an avid reader and podcast enthusiast. He also enjoyed gardening, keeping up with the latest technology and most of all he appreciated fine food and never met a pie he didn’t like.
Left behind to forever cherish his memory is his wife, Karen Paul of Worthington; his daughter, Sallie Metelsky and her husband, George, of Valencia; his daughter, Erin Bartell and her husband, Chris, of Shaler; his granddaughter, Myra Bartell of Shaler; his grandson, Niklaus Bartell of Shaler; his mother-in-law, Marie Stuchell of Cowansville; Linda Paul of Valencia; and his three furry friends, Maria, Einstein and Squeaks.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
PAUL — Per his wishes, there will be no viewing or services at this time for Dr. Jay Paul, who died Tuesday, July 26, 2022.
The SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Kittanning, is assisting the family with their arrangements.
