There’s a new health care center in town.

The Allegheny Health Network Seneca Valley Outpatient Center in Jackson Township will soon open to provide primary, specialty and diagnostic services to local residents.

Located at the Steamfitters Offices & Events Center at 232 Wise Road, the 7,500-square-foot healthcare facility will open to patients on Aug. 8. AHN officially cut the ribbon at the new facility on Tuesday.

“It is focused on sports medicine and orthopedics,” said JoAnne Clobus, strategic communications adviser at Allegheny Health Network. “We have a team of ortho surgeons and physical therapists who are going to be rotating through the facility.”

The surgeons and physical therapists are all current AHN physicians, she said, and no new physicians were brought on specifically for the center.

“These doctors all have active practices,” she said. “This is going to be much more convenient for those patients that they already have in their practice who live in that area.”

Full-time primary care for patients at the center will be available through primary care physician Judy Wesolowski, DO. Orthopedic surgeons rotating at the facility will be Timothy Sauber, MD; Nicholas Bonazza, MD; Stephen Hribar, MD; and Peter Tang, MD. Jared Ramsey, DO, a sports medicine primary care and concussion management specialist will also be on site.

A team of physical, speech and occupational therapists as well as a pelvic floor therapist and an oncology rehabilitation therapist will be available.

“The doctors are going to be rotating through,” Clobus explained. “Not every doctor is going to be there every day. Our doctors practice at various locations, and there are some practices that have dedicated locations, but as far as our specialists go, they typically rotate. That’s how this will be managed.”

Local partnerships

Allegheny Health Network is entering its fourth year as the sports medicine provider for Seneca Valley School District. A sports medicine team made up of physicians and athletic trainers works with athletes to ensure common and complex sports injuries receive the attention and treatment they need, while also implementing best practices for injuries.

The relationship between AHN and Seneca Valley was a factor in determining the new facility’s location, Clobus said. The new building is just two miles from the Seneca Valley campus.

“Bringing it into the community is really a goal of AHN, bringing care to where the patients are,” Clobus said. “I would call it a healthcare resource for them to go for treatment and therapy.”

AHN and Highmark’s longtime relationship with the Steamfitters also helped lead the health system to choose this location.

“We came up with the idea for this, and then we needed to find a location. The Steamfitters had this beautiful complex that was easily accessible and conveniently located, and this portion of their complex was empty and ready for leasing,” Clobus said. “All we needed to do was do the buildout."

“We are thrilled to partner with the Steamfitters Union to bring this important new health care facility to the community, providing more convenient access to high-quality health care services closer-to-home for our patients,” Cynthia Hundorfean, AHN president and CEO, said in a statement.

“Our plan for this site from the very beginning was to create a community asset,” said Joe Little, financial secretary and treasurer for the Steamfitters Union said in a statement. “Partnering with Highmark and AHN to help us add this valuable dimension to make our goal a reality for the people of this area has been very exciting.”
