Dale Green Sr.
Dale Wendelin Green Sr., 76, of Newport News, Va., passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on Nov. 18, 2014.
Born Dec. 21, 1937, in Butler, Dale was a U.S. Army veteran and dedicated his life to law enforcement with both the Newport News Police and Sheriff's Departments. Retiring from the Sheriff's Department on July 1, 2002, Dale spent his time buying, repairing and selling cars, trucks and campers as well as a couple of houses. He enjoyed frequenting thrift stores and garage sales to “wheel and deal.”
Dale was a loving and beloved father to the four sons he had with his late wife, Annette. He was a consummate practical joker and was known for his sense of humor which was with him until the very end.
Dale was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillian Annette Green.
He is survived by his loving companion Loida Jones; his sons, Dale Wendelin Jr., Kevin Michael, Jeffrey Allen and Daniel Patrick; his daughters-in-law respectively, Grace, Laura, Diana and Gwenn; grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon, Toby, Tyler, Jesse, Jamie, Patrick and William; his brother, Floyd Peter “Popeye” Green; and his sister, Jane Anne Kriess.
GREEN — A memorial service for Dale Wendelin Green Sr., who died Nov. 18, 2014, will be conducted at noon June 27 at Meridian Fire Hall, 121 Sparks Ave., Butler.Arrangements are being handled by the family.
