Rodney “Rod” Miller

Rodney “Rod” Miller, 50, of Slippery Rock passed away Sunday evening at his home after a three-month battle with cancer.

Born April 26, 1966, in Butler, to the late Harold Miller and Shirley Edington Miller. He married the former Tamara Drennen on June 2, 2001.

Rod graduated from Knoch High School. As a young man, he enjoyed Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle. It is then that he began his love of the outdoors and developed his survival skills.

Known for his strong work ethic, Rod was a flooring contractor for Butler Floor.

Rod enjoyed fireworks, roller coasters, playing guitar, animals, fishing and a good bonfire with family and friends. He dearly loved spending time under the sycamores beside the creek with his sweetie, where he found peace and contentment living in his little piece of paradise.

His wife would like to thank family, friends, neighbors and the surrounding community for their overwhelming kindness and support. A special thanks to the staff of the Vitas Hospice for all their loving care.

Survivors include his wife, Tam; their three loving cats; his sister, Patricia (Bill) Lucas of Tallahassee, Fla.; his two brothers-in-law, Tim (Debby) Drennen and Tucker (Leslie) Drennen; his sister-in-law, Terri (Bob) Pizor; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

MILLER — Visitation for Rodney “Rod” Miller, who died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, will be from 4:30 p.m. until the service at 7 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Jim Lewis officiating.Memorials may be given to Vitas Healthcare, 2009 MacKenzie Way, Suite 110, Cranberry Twp., PA 16066.
