Virginia A. Morrison
Virginia A. Morrison, 103, formerly of Cheswick died Thursday at Concordia Rebecca Residence in Allison Park after being a resident for 10 years.
She was born Feb. 6, 1914, in Cheswick to the late Addison and Mary Evans Armstrong and lived in Cheswick most of her life.
After her husband, John, died in 1955, Virginia began working as a crossing guard for the borough. She was next employed by the Allegheny Valley School District as a secretary and then handled the payroll for the district through 1969.
She then worked for the Bossola Insurance Agency in Cheswick, where she retired in 1976. In her retirement years, she traveled extensively, including Australia and New Zealand, England, Egypt, Germany and Hawaii.
Virginia was the oldest member of the Springdale United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Ronald E. (Margaret) Morrison of Cabot; her daughter, Colleen M. (Robert) Cook of Sarver; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn (Larry) Peffer of Cranberry Township.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, John Albert Morrison, whom she married on Jan. 1, 1938.
MORRISON — A memorial service for Virginia A. Morrison, who died Thursday, June 15, 2017, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Springdale United Methodist Church, 739 Pittsburgh St., Springdale, with the Rev. Megan Berkebile officiating.
Internment will follow at Mount Royal Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Springdale United Methodist Church.
