Maxine Buffington
Maxine Alice Buffington, 79, of Butler, formerly of Bonniebrook Road, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Sunday at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Aug. 21, 1937, in Butler, to the late Samuel J. Patten and Alice D. (Barber) Patten.
Maxine was a transcriptionist of medical records at Butler Memorial Hospital, then worked for Dr. Alfredo Garcia as an office medical assistant and also with ABC Home Healthcare.
She was most happy being with her grandchildren. Maxine enjoyed reading, puzzles and traveling. She was a 1955 graduate of Butler High School.
She is survived by two sons, Bruce Buffington of Denver and Dennis Buffington and his wife, Sheryl, of West Sunbury; two daughters, Julie Buffington of Butler and Joni Rusnak and her husband, Dave, of Butler; seven grandchildren, Jereme Buffington and his wife, Jessica, Sara Buffington, Kayla Grossman and her husband, Justin, Kyle Gilliland, Tyler Buffington, Taylor Buffington and Tucker Buffington; one great-grandson, Cassiel Buffington; two sisters, Marilyn Miller of Montoursville, Pa., and Janice Vavro and her husband, Ronald, of Butler; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Buffington, who she married Aug. 4, 1956, and who died Oct. 24, 2001; her son, David Buffington; and her two brothers, T. Williams Patten and Robert Patten.
BUFFINGTON — Friends of Maxine Alice Buffington, who died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Butler, with the Rev. Joel A.
