Kelly, Metcalfe win; Corbett carries county

Here are the results of contested races in Butler County in Tuesday’s election.

U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly won a third term in the 3rd Congressional District.

Republican Kelly of Butler beat Democrat Dan LaVallee of Cranberry Township in the county, 38,327 votes, or 70.5 percent, to LaValle’s 16,444 votes, 29.5 percent.

Districtwide, Kelly got 112,588 votes, 60.6 percent, while LaVallee received 73,274 votes, which was 39.4 percent.

State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe won an eighth term beating Democrat Lisa Zucco in the 12th House District.

In total, Metcalfe won 12,439 votes to Zucco’s 7,724 votes.

Metcalfe got 60 percent of the vote to Zucco’s 40 percent. He won all of the 22 polling locations in the district.

A referendum backed by a group of Middlesex Township residents to have the number of township supervisors increased to five from three failed.

In the township’s north precinct, 566 voted no while 342 voted yes. In the south precinct, 508 voted no and 389 voted yes to the increase in supervisors.

Republican Gov. Tom Corbett won in the county, getting 35,783 votes to Democrat Tom Wolf’s 20,153. However, Wolf won statewide.

A total of 45 percent of county voters showed up at the polls. Of the 122,109 people registered to vote, 55,021 did.
