McElhinny 85th birthday
Mary McElhinny of Evans City will celebrate her 85th birthday July 24 with a family dinner with all her children, grandchildren and great-granchildren at her daughter’s home in Renfrew.
The former Mary Montgomery was born July 26, 1937, at home on Monroe Road in Sarver. She married Samuel McElhinny on April 11, 1959, at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Evans City. He passed away in 2006.
She has six children, John (Jan) McElhinny of Evans City; Dawn (Ray) Turner of Evans City; Pamela (Leroy) James of Renfrew; Jolienne (John) Govan of Valencia; Kelly (Jim) Hixon of Renfrew; and Chip (Jodi) McElhinny of Renfrew. She also has 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. McElhinny, who is now retired, served as secretary for Forward Township.
She volunteers with Meals on Wheels and hand-sews beautiful quilts for the steadily growing numbers of great-grandchildren.
She attends Old Union Presbyterian Church.
