Rhoda I. Thompson
Rhoda I. (Schantz) Thompson, 92, of Cranberry Township passed away Tuesday at the Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony, while under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice of Wexford.
Born Nov. 20, 1921, in New Alexandria, she was the daughter of the late Donovan and Thelma (Silvis) Schantz.
Rhoda was a graduate of Zelienople High School, and she enjoyed going on vacations, especially traveling out west with her late husband. She was known to be a wonderful cook, and above all, enjoyed sharing meals and spending time with her family.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her three children, Carol L. Wolfe and her fiance, Jack LaRoche, of Zelienople, Gary G. Thompson and his wife, Mary, of Cranberry Township and Diane L. Gabel and her husband, Robert, of Cranberry Township; her sister, Jean Rape of Zelienople; her sister-in-law, Patricia Hinkle and her husband, James, of Ellwood City; her grandchildren, Randy (Lisa) Wolfe, Eric Wolfe, Todd Wolfe, Mark (Bonnie) Wolfe, Shannon (Ward) Witmer, Brittany (Kevin) Mentel, Jason (Kelly) Thompson and the late Kara Brooke (Brian) Hawk; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Rhoda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn L. Thompson, who passed away in 1990; one granddaughter; one brother, Donald R. Schantz; and two sisters, Sally Smith and Betty Householder.
Rhoda's family gives special thanks to her niece, Judy Warner, and family friend, Susan Peffer, for their care and support during her time of illness.
THOMPSON — The family of Rhoda I. (Schantz) Thompson, who died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 219 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.Services for Rhoda will be held privately by her family.
