Laurie R. Kaczmarek, a Navy damage controlman, formerly of East Brady, received her promotion to petty officer third class aboard the U.S.S. Harry S. Truman.She had served on the Truman aircraft carrier while it was on a seven-month deployment in the Mediterranean Sea and the Persian Gulf.She was elected damage controlman for March. She also was awarded the Bluejacket of the Quarter, Second Quarter and Bluejacket of the Quarter for the Command for 2008. She also earned the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Surface Warfare Pin.She is the daughter of Charles and Nancy Kaczmarek, Jr. of Bristol, Tenn. Her grandparents are Charles and Nancy Kaczmarek Sr. of Butler and Marlene Crouch of Bristol and the late Walter "Gene" Crouch.——Air Force Airman
Melissa Klein has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.Klein, a 2007 graduated from Slippery Rock High School, is the daughter of Jane Costanzo of Kittanning and sister of George Klein of Slippery Rock.——
<B>Tania Bryan </B>has been promoted to the rank of first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, and named Company Grade Officer of the Month.Bryan is the public affairs deputy director for the 311th Human Systems Wing at Brooks-City Base, San Antonio, Texas, and has served in the military for nine years.She is the daughter of Joe and Debbie Ehrhart of Vermilion, Ohio. Her grandparents are William J. Ehrhart of Evans City, Helen Morford of Zelienople and Wilma Gordon of Seminole, Fla.Bryan graduated from high school in 1998 and received a bachelor's degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Fla., in 2006.——<B>Jason Sutton </B>has graduated from the Army ROTC Leader Development and Assessment Course, at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash., and has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army.Sutton is the son of Timothy F. Sutton of Butler.
