Wayne D. Campbell

Wayne D. Campbell of Silver Spring, Md., passed away on Nov. 16 at home after a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 21, 1957, in Bethesda, Md., to Benjamin Frank Campbell Jr. and Joan Friese.

Wayne grew up in White Plains, N.Y., where his lifelong fascination for trains and all things New York originated.

The Campbells moved to Camp Hill, Pa., and in 1970, settled in Pittsburgh, where Wayne graduated from North Allegheny High School in 1975. Wayne furthered his education at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, W.Va., with a B.S. in marketing and management in 1979.

Wayne had lived in Silver Spring since the 1980s and had been employed by Nasdaq in Rockville as a senior accountant for 25 years.

Wayne was an avid sports fanatic, supporting his Yankees, Steelers and Penguins all the way. He also loved horse racing and traveling, especially to Las Vegas.

Wayne will be greatly missed by his local community.

Wayne leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Joan F. Campbell of Zelienople; and his sister, Lynne C. (Will) Hilton of Linesville, Pa.; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Campbell, who died in December 2017.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Wayne's friends, Russ Bell, Mark Huffman B. Wood-Starling and the Nasdaq family, as well as the dedicated staff of Georgetown University Hospital for their loving care toward “Mr. Chill.”

CAMPBELL — Funeral services for Wayne D. Campbell, who died Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, were held at Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Home in Rockville, Md.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County Humane Society, 601 S.
