Last week’s performances of “Much Ado About Nothing” in Preston Park went off without a hitch. It was lovely to bring the Bard’s words to the Butler community in one of its most beautiful locations.

Zelienople’s Horse Trading Days is sure to stirrup fun with carnival games, food, a hot dog eating contest, dog show, and bands such as Gaelic Storm and No Bad JuJu. Giddyup to Main Street starting at 2 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
The third Thursday of the month means Saxonburg’s Mingle on Main is back in business. Celebrate local vendors and shops at 5:30 p.m.
Local band This-That and the Other Thing will play at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for Picnic in the Park at Succop Nature Park, 185 W Airport Road in Penn Township. Come hear classic rock favorites for free in the open air, and take a chair along with you.
The concert series in Cranberry Township Community Park, 111 Ernie Mashuda Drive, continues by welcoming the Pittsburgh Belairs at 7 p.m. Thursday. Take a blanket, some friends and money for refreshments provided by the Rotary.
Butler County Symphony Association’s free summer concert series will feature guitar player and vocalist Jacob Glath, at noon Friday via Facebook or in person in the symphony building, 259 S. Main St.
Butler Bikes & BBQ kicks off right with a ride through downtown Butler at 5 p.m. Friday. The event opens at Butler Farm Show Grounds at 11 a.m. Friday and continues until 5 p.m. Sunday. Experience food, dozens of local bands, demonstrations and games throughout the weekend. Let’s ride!
The whole family can canter at the Hot-to-Trot 5K, one mile or Tot Trot races starting at 8 a.m. Saturday for Zelie’s Horse Trading Days. Be sure to check in at the information booth at Spring and Main streets or register the day of at Glade Run Lutheran Services, 30 Glade Run Drive.
Zelienople Historical Society is doing a tour of local gardens in conjunction with Horse Trading Days. Tours run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and begin at the Buhl House, 221 S Main St. in Zelienople.
Can’t get enough of the outdoors? Southern Butler County Garden Club’s 14th Annual Garden Tour will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday. Pick up tickets and a direction booklet at the the Cranberry Township Municipal Center, 2525 Rochester Road, and experience an afternoon in local beauty cultivated by your friends and neighbors.
Members of the Butler County Symphony Orchestra will accompany multiple acts at the Celebrity Care Fest beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday at 405 Avonlea Court, Gibsonia. Evan City’s EDCO Park, 154 W. Main St., is hosting a Christmas in July-themed night swim at 6 p.m. Saturday. Arrive dressed in your best holiday garb!

Rubes Run, a 5K that benefits the Prospect Area Preservation Society, passes the boyhood home of Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Rube Waddell. Runners take off at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at 115 Church St. in Prospect.
Slippery Rock’s Bands on Bricks event features local band The Pulse from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the corner of New Castle and Main streets.
