Mary Ellen Kuriger

Mary Ellen Kuriger, 85, of Cabot passed away Friday evening at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

She was born on Oct. 23, 1929, to the late Russell Kuriger Sr. and Eva Petras Kuriger.

With her parents, she had a dairy farm for more than 45 years. She worked at the Winfield Mushroom Mine for 17 years.

She loved and cared for a beautiful vegetable and flower garden each year, and enjoyed and cared for many animals over her lifetime, the last one being “her Abbey.” Her great love for God helped her over the past year of declining health.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma (Joe) Zumbro, and her brother, Russell (Mary) Kuriger Jr.

She is survived by her four nieces and her nephew; her many great-nieces and nephews, and her special friends, Sandy and Larry Laidlaw and family, who are remembered fondly.

Special thanks to Evelyn Bergbigler and staff at Evie's Country Care for the wonderful love and care through the past months. Also a special thanks to the VNA Hospice and the VNA Inpatient Hospice for the wonderful care in the past few days.
