Ronald C. Laidlaw

Ronald C. Laidlaw, 78, of Jackson Center, Pa., passed away peacefully with his family by his side at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Living Center, Grove City, after suffering a stroke while at work.

Born Jan. 12, 1938, in West Winfield, he was a son of John W. and Hester Corbett Laidlaw.

He was a 1956 graduate of Winfield-Clinton Joint High School, Cabot.

In his early years, he worked as an underground coal miner for Allegheny River Mines of Kittanning. Then he was an over-the-road truck driver for several years and was currently a diesel mechanic for Utzingers Towing of Boardman, Ohio, where he has worked over the past 20 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 377 of Youngstown, Ohio.

In earlier years he attended the Lakeview United Methodist Church.

Ron was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member, serving three times as worshipful master of the Grove City Lodge 603, Free and Accepted Masons, New Castle Consistory with Scottish Rites and Zem Zem Shrine, Erie.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during peacetime.

Ron loved the outdoors and always enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

His wife, the former Linda L. Johnson, who he married Aug. 11, 1956, preceded him in death Jan. 4, 2010.

Survivors include two daughters, Debra L. Boughner of Jackson Center and Kelly M. Miller and her husband, Robb, of Grove City; his son, Ronald D. “Dale” Laidlaw of Harrisville; six grandchildren, Jacob C. Boughner and his wife, Khrystina, Rusty J. “Buck” Laidlaw and his wife, Tracy, Joshua A. Emery and his wife, Kimberly, Ashley S. Ryder, Nicholas C. Laidlaw and Cameron S. Laidlaw; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Janet Buchan and her husband, John “Pudge,” Sally Foran and her husband, Russell, and Linda Morrison, all of Sarver; and a brother, Gale Laidlaw and his wife, Barb, of Saxonburg.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian C. “Rusty” Laidlaw; his grandson, Jonathan C. Boughner; and two brothers, Gerald Laidlaw and James Laidlaw.

LAIDLAW — Calling hours for Ronald C. Laidlaw, who died Tuesday, April 26, 2016, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro, with a Masonic service at 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeremy C. Jones, pastor of the Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Grove City, officiatingInterment will take place at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.
