BUTLER TWP — As expenses at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center continue to drop, Butler County is not poised to sell the facility.

"We don't want to sell Sunnyview," said county Commissioner Dale Pinkerton at Thursday's Sunnyview board meeting.

Pinkerton, chairman of the commissioners, said a sale is only one possible route to take later, but not soon.

"At the present time, we're taking a look at all options," he said.

Pinkerton stressed Sunnyview would not close even if the county sells it someday for fiscal reasons.

"If by chance we sell it, it will continue to be a nursing home," he said.

Pinkerton agreed with Sunnyview officials that expenses there are decreasing.

Among the reduced costs is overtime hours in the nursing department.

The Sunnyview administration also devised a way to save money by altering the limits on the hours of part-time switchboard operators and food service workers.

Another expected cost-cutting measure is the outsourcing of the laundry department that will occur next year.
