Greta Ann (Denny) Miller, 87, of Butler, passed away of natural causes on July 6, 2022, at peace and ready to meet her Lord. She was a loving mom and a wonderful teacher. We will miss her greatly.

Greta was born on Oct. 5, 1934, in Butler, to Walter and Phylliss Denny.

She was a graduate of Butler High School Class of 1952. She also was a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She earned her master’s degree from Bloomsburg University and her Ph.D. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Greta taught elementary school for over 30 years in Pennsylvania schools, making a positive impact on hundreds of children. She loved traveling, reading and the arts, and her summers were spent visiting her family and traveling around the world.

Greta is survived by her three children, David and his wife, Deb Miller, of Polson, Mont., Debbie Mears and her fiancé, Ken Baker, of Hixson, Tenn., and Douglas Miller of Missoula, Mont.; one grandson, Shawn and his wife, Anna Mears; and one great-grandson, Cole Mears of Hixson, Tenn.

Greta is also survived by two sisters, Susan Denny and Nancy Markle; a sister-in-law, Jean Denny of Butler; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins in the Butler area.

MILLER — A funeral Mass for Greta Ann (Denny) Miller, who died Wednesday, July 6, 2022, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Parish-St. Peter Catholic Church in Butler, followed by a luncheon at the church.

She will be put to her final rest at Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery and Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Hospice. Cards may be sent to 150 McQuistion Road, Butler, PA 16001.
