Matthew Daugherty
Matthew Isaac Daugherty, 44, of Butler passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born May 31, 1974, in McCandless Township, he was the son of Mark D. and Michele Vandevort Daugherty of Lancaster Township.
Matt was Catholic by faith.
Known as “Doc” to his friends, he was a graduate of Seneca Valley High School and was an All-Conference Offensive Guard his senior year.
Matt was a 1997 graduate of Slippery Rock University, earning bachelor's degrees in anthropology and archaeology.
He was employed as a housing counselor by the Butler County Housing Authority.
Matt was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and enjoyed the Steelers and fantasy football. He loved music and music festivals, going to the beach, fishing and camping, the great outdoors and the casino.
He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
In addition to his parents, Matt leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Elizabeth “Betsy” Daugherty of Butler, whom he married on May 10, 2014; his daughters, Maggie and Meara Daugherty, at home; his father and mother-in-law, Randall and Sally Brown of Butler; his brother-in-law, Randy Brown of Butler; his sisters, Melissa (Patrick) Andre of Middlesex Township and Megan (Mark) Reno of Lancaster Township; and eight nieces and nephews.
Matt was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dale and Audean “Deanie” Daugherty; his maternal grandparents, Ray and Martha Jean Vandevort; his cousin, Sean Daugherty; and his dog, Mighty Quinn.
DAUGHERTY — Friends of Matthew Isaac Daugherty, who died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E.
