Johnston succeeds at Meadows again
WASHINGTON, Pa. — For the second straight day, trainer Gary Johnston of Evans City notched a win in harness racing Thursday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
This time, his son, Shawn Johnston, drove the horse.
Silly But Serious, a 5-year-old mare owned by Joyce Bankart and Gary Johnston, won a a $7,000 Conditioned Claiming Pace.
SV football team recognizing veterans
JACKSON TWP — The Seneca Valley School District is again in the process of organizing a special Veteran Recognition Day during the Raiders’ first home varsity football game Sept. 2.
All veterans and active military personnel living in the Seneca Valley School District are encouraged to participate.
Prior to warm-up at 6 p.m., veterans will join the football tam in the locker room to adhere American Flag stickers to the players’ helmets. At 7 p.m., veterans will be gathered on the NexTier Stadium track to be recognized.
Veterans attending, along with a guest, will receive free admission, special seating and parking accommodations for the game.
