Steelers PA announcer resigns in wake of probe
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers say their longtime public address announcer has resigned after recently being suspended from his job as athletic director of Ambridge School District.
Randy Cosgrove has not responded to requests for comment since his suspension April 4. He had been athletic director for 13 years. The district’s finance director says the district is conducting an internal review of Cosgrove, but Ambridge police have said they’re not involved in the probe.
The 60-year-old Cosgrove had been the Steelers public address announcer for 15 years, dating back to the team’s days at Three Rivers Stadium.
The Steelers did not comment beyond confirming Cosgrove’s resignation as announcer. Cosgrove did not immediately return a call for comment.
