Sue Elaine Marshall

Sue Elaine Marshall, 84, of Ellwood City passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born April 19, 1936, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late James and Jeanne Remley Cooper.

She was married to Robert C. Marshall, who passed on Sept. 22, 2004.

Sue was a 1954 graduate of Shenango High School, and a 1957 graduate of Butler Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.

She was proud to be a registered nurse, and blessed to have many lifelong friends from her years in nurses' training.

Sue held many jobs as an RN, including at Blaw-Knox Steel, Ellwood City Hospital and Hillview Manor.

She married Robert “Bob” on Feb. 14, 1959. They lived in many places, including West Middlesex, Pa., Cherry Hill, N.J., as well as New Castle, before settling into Ellwood City.

She was a longtime active member of Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church, where she served her church family in many ways, including deacon.

Sue was involved with many clubs over the years, from card club, to Mother's Club, and had many devoted friends as a result.

She enjoyed reading, cooking and crafts. Sue treasured quiet conversations with her many friends and family. She delighted in her only granddaughter, and loved to share about her accomplishments. Mostly, she had a great love for the Lord, and spent much time with devotions.

Survivors include her daughter, Darla J. (Patrick) Speranza, and her granddaughter, Hannah, all of Cranesville, Pa.

She is also survived by a sister, Judy (Ronald) Houk of Yorba Linda, Calif.; a brother, Richard (Joan) Cooper of Blythewood, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Ruth Cooper of Alexandria, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Daren Marshall, who passed away on Feb. 8, 1998, and by two brothers, Larry and James Cooper.

MARSHALL — Visiting hours for Sue Elaine Marshall, who died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Marshall Funeral Home, Ellwood City, with Pastor Rob Guy of Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church officiating.Interment will follow at Castleview Memorial Park, New Castle.Memorial contributions may be made to Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church, 291 Wurtemburg Road, P.O.
