Richard L. Lutz Sr.
Richard L. Lutz Sr., 68, of Butler Township passed away Sunday at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Born on Sept. 5, 1946, in Zelienople, he was the son of Faye G. Harris Lutz Hamilton of Zelienople and the late Frank H. Lutz.
Richard was a member of the St. Fidelis Parish, and he retired as a field technician for SSI in Cranberry Township after 15 years of service.
He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, was a member of the American Legion Post 117 and was affectionately called “captain” by his grandchildren. He was known as a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed fishing, rock 'n' roll music and playing the drums, but especially treasured the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his mother, Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 47 years, Kathleen Kiefer Lutz of Butler Township; his four children, Richard L. (Sherri) Lutz Jr. of Butler, Mark Edward (Shannon) Lutz of Harrisville, Jeffrey Allan (Christine Lynn) Lutz Sr. of Callery and Julia Christine Lutz of McCandless Township; his nine grandchildren, Bethany Dawn, Brittany Lynn, Victoria Ann, Hunter, Mia, Charise Lynn, Jeffrey Allan Jr., Mari Tegan and Kazumi Amelia; his two brothers, James Lutz of Marietta, Ga., and Ronald (Kerri) Lutz of Harrisville; his sister, Patricia (David) Leonberg of Ellwood City; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Marsha Dorcy.
Lutz— A memorial Mass for Richard L. Lutz Sr., who passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Fidelis Parish, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, with Father Gerald Lutz as celebrant.In lieu of flowers, the Lutz family suggests memorial contributions be made in Richard's honor to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001 or to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.Arrangements are by theBoylan Funeral Home, Zelienople.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the Lutz family at www.boylanfuneralhome.com.
