Sylvia L. McFeaters
Sylvia Louise McFeaters, 74, of Slippery Rock died at 9:15 p.m. Friday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born in Natrona Heights on April 4, 1936, a daughter of Henry William Dahmen and Minerva Martinkovich.
She was married to Robert Edward "Dick" McFeaters on Aug. 7, 1957. He died June 18, 2006.
She was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Nurses Corps. She received her bachelor's and master's of education from Slippery Rock University, and taught elementary school for the Slippery Rock School District, teaching mostly at Moraine Elementary.
She was a member of the Highland Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock, and both the Wednesday and Thursday Morning Ladies Golf League at Shamrock. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends to other golf courses in the area. She enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by three sons, Michael Lee and his wife, "Geri," McFeaters of Slippery Rock, Robert Wayne and his wife, Judy, McFeaters of Grove City, and Eric Richard of Slippery Rock; two sisters, Karen Stubgeon of Indianapolis and Jacqueline Lesney of Gettysburg; and four grandchildren, Amanda Jo, Jonathan, Trevor and Fontaine McFeaters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Henry William Dahmen III.
<B>MCFEATERS — </B>Friends of Sylvia Louise McFeaters, who died Friday, July 2, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the<B> SMITH FUNERAL HOME,</B> 421 New Castle St. Slippery Rock. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Presbyterian Church, Franklin Street, Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Albert Stuart, pastor of the Highland Presbyterian Church presiding.Family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Slippery Rock Cemetery.
