Berness (Rezak) Cribbs
Berness (Rezak) Cribbs, 91, of Buffalo Township passed away Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospice Unit of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.
Born Sept. 21, 1925, to the late Pauline (Micholas) and Andrew Rezak, she resided in the Freeport area most of her life.
She graduated from Freeport High School in 1943 followed by New Kensington Commercial Business School. All of her employment was in the accounting field. She was previously employed by Mellon Bank, NA Pittsburgh, Principal Office, where she was a commercial loan administrator until her retirement in 1981. She also served as a center manager for the Freeport Area Agency on Aging.
Berness was a faithful member of the St. Mary, Mother of God, Roman Catholic Church, in Freeport, where she was an active member of the C.D. of A. She enjoyed baking, cooking and bringing friends and family together through food and conversation. She was also an accomplished quilter and received numerous awards.
Berness was married to the late Edward W. Cribbs for 59 years. He passed away on Nov. 14, 2012.
She is survived by her two daughters, Paula (Mike) Alfone and Beth (Kerry) Ramsey; her four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Leonard and Joseph; and by her sisters, Ann Liti, Wilma Kelly, Kathryn Krchnak, Dorothy Rezak and Alberta (Birdie) Posney.
CRIBBS — Family and friends of Berness (Rezak) Cribbs, who died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, at DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth St., Freeport. A parting prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Christian funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Mary, Mother of God, Roman Catholic Church, Freeport, with the Rev. Ronald Maquinana as celebrant.
