Harry Wilson

Harry W. Wilson Jr., 87, of Middlesex Township passed away June 21 at the Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford.

He was born Nov. 15, 1924, in Munhall, to Harry W. Wilson Sr. and Ruth Freeborough.

He was a veteran of World War II and served as a sergeant in the 66th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. A 1948 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.

He was affiliated with First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown and was a member of the Homestead Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, the Syria Shrine, Syria Temple and Scottish Rite.

He was a chemical engineer at Callery Chemical Co. (Mine Safety Appliance) in Evans City. He was a member of the Institute of Chemical Engineers and the American Men of Science.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Ruth Alford Wilson, who he married on Dec. 19, 1947, in Heinz Chapel; one daughter, Robin (Max) Heckman of Economy Borough; one son, Gregg (Marcy) Wilson of Indiana, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Benjamin and Jenna Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James R. Wilson.

WILSON — Family and friends of Harry W. Wilson Jr., who passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012, are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown with the Rev. Dr. Dan Muttart and the Rev. Dr. Richard Morledge officiating.There will be no visitation. A private entombment will be in the mausoleum of Allegheny County Memorial Park.Donations in his memory may be made to Hosanna Industries, 109 Rinard Lane, Rochester, PA 15074, or to the Lighthouse Foundation, 1302 Cruikshank Road, Butler, Pa. 16002.Arrangements are entrusted to Kyper Funeral Home, 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw.
