Vicenza Vargo, 10, of Mars was chosen as finalist in the Preteen State of Pennsylvania Pageant to be held in August in Harrisburg. She will participate in the following areas: poise and presentation in formal wear, modeling, personality during an interview, onstage personal introduction, community involvement project and talent in the area of piano solo.A fourth-grade student at Mars Elementary School, Vicenza enjoys piano, tennis and gymnastics.
———Courtney Ann Cox of Chicora won the title of Miss Riverfest Queen 2011 June 4 at the East Brady Riverfest Pageant. A graduate of Karns City High School, she is the daughter of Michael and Sandra Cox of Chicora.Her talent was a rifle routine to “American Soldier” by Toby Keith, which she will perform July 16 before the singing of the national anthem. The East Brady Riverfest runs July 15 to 17.The other winners included Little Miss Princess,

Samantha Roth</B>, 11, of Butler won Preteen Princess May 15 at the Sligo Irish Festival Pageant. She also won overall Prettiest Smile. She performed the song “Every Girl Can Be A Princess.” She is the daughter of Jeffrey and Arlene Roth of Butler.<B>———Ashley Hughes</B>, 17, of Saxonburg won the Regional Three Baton Championship on May 28 at the Twirling Unlimited Regional Championships in York, Pa. Ashley has been twirling for 11 years and is a member of the Senior Young Americans. Her twirling instructor is Gwen Pysh of Saxonburg.She will be a feature twirler this fall for California (Pa.) University.
