Margaret Virginia Mars

Margaret Virginia Mars

Margaret Virginia Mars, 87, of Cranberry Township passed away peacefully Monday in the comfort of her home.

Born Jan. 10, 1929, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late George I. and Margaret (Kennedy) Foster.

Virginia was a hard-working mother and wife. For several years she worked alongside her husband, Donald, as a seamstress and tailor, even continuing to operate the business on her own for several years after his passing in 1971, all while raising her two boys independently.

She also believed strongly in showing appreciation to our military and did so by generously volunteering much of her spare time providing assistance to the honorable men and women serving our country.

Virginia enjoyed a long-standing membership in the Order of the Eastern Star and Ladies' Orange Lodge. A very spiritual lady, she was also a member of the Council of Lilydale, where she developed a talent and love of psychic reading. In the past, she volunteered and served as a Cub Scout den mother for many of the boys in the Cranberry community.

Forever a free spirit and life of the party, Virginia loved to display her belly dancing techniques along with her friends at their favorite Greek gatherings spots. She was a fiery redhead, full of personality and strong opinions, while always offering a comforting shoulder to lean on. Her love for her family will always remain her greatest attribute.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two loving sons, Donald C. Mars and his wife, Cheryl, of Zelienople and Jeffrey C. Mars and his wife, Danting, of Cranberry; her grandson, Nicholas Mars and his wife, Amy, of Zelienople; and her great-granddaughter, Chelsea Lynn Mars of Evans City.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald C. Mars; her sister, Jane Lee Thompson; and her grandson, Donald Foster Mars Jr.
