This painting by Abigail Rumbaugh was chosen to be a part of this year's Very Special Arts Exhibit.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The annual Very Special Arts Exhibit has a change of location this year.

"The exhibit is usually held at Grove City College where we can hang over 600 pieces of artwork. Due to renovations there, we had to find another venue for this year, and Slippery Rock University graciously offered space in Boozel Dining Hall," said Virginia Moore, director of arts and education programs at Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV, in a written release.

"This year, only the artwork that was selected as 'Juror's Choice' will be exhibited at Boozel," she said.

Students in kindergarten through 12th grade with special needs participate in the exhibit.

Students participating are from districts in Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties, including Butler, Grove City, George Junior Republic, Moniteau, Seneca Valley, Slippery Rock and South Butler. Also exhibiting are students from Butler Vocational-Technical School, Clarence Brown Community School and the Mars Home for Youth.

Visitors may view the artwork from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Boozel Dining Hall Monday to Friday.

Very Special Arts is an international nonprofit organization affiliated with the education programs of the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

The exhibit, sponsored by intermediate unit, is supported by McDonald's of London, Mercer County, the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the MIU IV Education Association.
