SLIPPERY ROCK — The Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites is expected to open today.

Richard Goodrum, management company principal for the hotel, said the hotel is expected to open at 3 p.m.

The only obstacle left before it opens is the traffic light at the corner of Franklin Street and Grove City Road. Goodrum said the state Department of Transportation told him crews will be at the light today to test it and possibly activate it.

“We want to make sure we are ready,” Goodrum said.

He said people already are calling to make reservations at the 75-room hotel.

“We’re hoping to have a full house for homecoming,” Goodrum said.

Slippery Rock University has its annual homecoming celebration this weekend.
