Joan Jannetti

Jannetti

Joan M. DeMatteis Jannetti, 86, of Union Township, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Butler, and was the youngest of eleven children born to the late Vincent and Antonia (Nanni) DeMatteis.

Surviving at home is her loving husband, Harry D. Jannetti, whom she married Aug. 12, 1961. It was God’s plan for her to meet Harry, who was the love of her life, and they were blessed to have spent over sixty years together.

Joan was a devoted member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. She was a devout Catholic and a prayer warrior, always praying for her family and friends.

Joan graduated from high school in Butler and went on to earn her nursing degree from the New Castle Hospital School of Nursing. Joan’s love of children led her to a career as a pediatric nurse, first at Jameson Hospital and then ending her career with Dr. James Sommerfield, where she retired in 1996.

Joan enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She cherished all the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

Joan is survived by her husband and three daughters, Susan (Tim) Sallmen, Lynne (Lee) Ransom, Karen (Rich) Stewart; her eight grandchildren, Lucas (Krista), Jordan and fiancé, Lisa, Alexa Ransom, Nicole and Tim Sallmen, RJ, Ryan and Marina Stewart; three great grandchildren, Riley, Bella and Kash; her sister, Angela DeMatteis; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joan is preceded in death by her son, Harry V. Jannetti; two brothers, Domenic and Michael Angelo DeMatteis; and her sisters, Ann, Clara, Elisa, Violet, Sylvia, Eleanor and Anita.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the wonderful caregivers who we truly believe are angels on earth: Jackie, Liz, Stacey, Jessica and Pinnacle Hospice for their exceptional care of Joan.
