Gertrude C. Eakman, 87, of Fenelton died at 6:50 a.m. Monday at Saxony Health Care, Saxonburg, following a lingering illness.

Born in Donegal Township, Chicora, Feb. 8, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. Rodgers and the late Catherine Shields Rodgers.

Mrs. Eakman was a homemaker and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, in Fenelton/Coylesville.

Surviving are a son, Phillip Eakman and his wife, Shirlee, of Pueblo, Colo.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Laura J. Eakman of Fenelton; two brothers, Charles Rodgers and his wife, Ruth, of Butler and Paul Rodgers and his wife, Pat, of Fenelton; a brother-in-law, Robert Barnhart of Fenelton; two sisters-in-law, Mary Jean Rodgers of Chicora and Eleanor J. Rodgers of Fenelton; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Harry W. Eakman Jr., who she married Jan. 28, 1947, died Feb. 13, 1987. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Debora Lee Eakman; a son, Harry Eakman; three sisters, Irene Cannon, Mary Ferkatich and Cecilia Barnhart; and four brothers, Patrick, Clayton, Claude and James Rodgers.
