Cranberry embezzler gets long prison term
PITTSBURGH – A judge Wednesday sentenced a Cranberry woman to 6½ years in prison for her role in embezzling more than $10 million from a car dealership.
Patricia Smith, 58, worked as the controller for Baierl Acura in Wexford for 18 years.
Last year, she admitted stealing $10.2 million from the business during six years, money that went to fund an extremely lavish lifestyle that included 10 cars, four houses, cash, jewelry, stocks, flat screen televisions, a mink coat and a baby grand piano.
She had asked the judge to consider her cooperation with authorities and sentence to a shorter term.
Her attorney said she expected her client to have a multimillion dollar restitution order.
