John Pickerd
John Wilbert Pickerd, 75, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 17, 1946, in Butler, he was the son of the late John and Shirley (Bobst) Pickerd.
John was a graduate of Butler High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam.
He was employed as a supervisor of engineering at the Butler VA, retiring in 2008.
John was a lifetime member of the DAV. He enjoyed hunting in his early years, fishing and using his hands for building anything he put his mind to. John loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife of 27 years, Ruthann (Dean) Pickerd of Butler; his daughter, Amber Connor and her husband, Josh, of Smethport, Pa.; two sons, Dwight Boddorf and Kathy Wolfe of Pittsburgh, and John Pickerd of Butler; his second sons, Jamie Shanor and wife, Megan, of Rochester, Pa., and Jason Shanor of Beaver; three grandchildren, Kaydan, Michaela and Alex; two sisters, Judy Voelker and her husband, Roger, of Butler, and Cheryl Hays of Butler; and his special friends, Walter Ammon of Harrisville, and Jeff Haugh and his wife, Crystal, of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Larry and Frank Pickerd.
PICKERD — Family and friends of John Wilbert Pickerd, who died Tuesday, June 28, 2022, are invited to a visitation from 3 p.m. until the time of the service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler, with the Rev. David M. Phillips officiating.
