Eugene “Gene” Widmer
Eugene “Gene” Widmer, 82, of Tyrone, Pa., died Monday, May 31, 2021, at the Hillview Health Care in Altoona.
He was born Sept. 20, 1938, at Braeburn in Lower Burrell, and was a son of the late William Randall and Betty J. (Artman) Widmer.
He was twice married, first on Aug. 17, 1962, to Donna Jean Tusing, who died Nov. 6, 1989. He was then married on May 24, 1997, to Kathy (Shildt) Tangeman, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Melanie S. Widmer (Terry) and Dawn Cahall, both of Pittsburgh; a son, Alan Russell Widmer (Annette) of Port O'Connor, Texas; his sister, Priscilla Hawk (William) of New Kensington; a brother, William R. Widmer Jr. (Pat) of Monroeville; and his favorite grandchildren, Hunter and Tamryn Cahall.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was a member of the Tyrone Lodge 212 BPOE, and area sportsman's clubs.
He had worked as a welder at Pullman Ritts Standard Supply in Butler, and Appleby Associates and Sportsman's Supply in Butler, and last as a sales representative for St. Croix Fishing and Equipment in Wisconsin.
He always enjoyed fishing, reloading ammo, fixing guns, visiting wineries, cooking, grilling and entering quests for dinner.
WIDMER — Friends of Eugene “Gene” Widmer, who died Monday, May 31, 2021, will be received from 1 p.m. until the memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Derman Funeral Home, 1200 Lincoln Ave., Tyrone, Pa. The memorial Elks service at 2 p.m. will be conducted by Lodge 212 Tyrone.Inurnment will be at Summit Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Butler.Contributions in his memory for his love of pets can be made to the Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E.
