Shirley A. Cooper Bruner

Shirley A. Cooper Bruner, 56, of Center Township passed away Friday at VNA Inpatient Hospice, surrounded by her loving family.

Born Dec. 1, 1960, in Butler, she was the daughter of Clifford J. Cooper and Ruth J. Leonard Cooper.

Shirley graduated from Butler Senior High School in 1979 and went on to enroll at Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Radiology, where she received her radiology technician degree in 1981. She worked in the Butler Memorial Hospital Radiology Department, where she was recognized for 30 years of service. Shirley became a certified mammography technician and a bone density technician while at the hospital.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Women's Bible Study. She also belonged to the Chicora Moose and the American Legion of West Sunbury. She enjoyed riding her Harley-Davidson Soft Tail motorcycle. Shirley will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving companion, Robert H. Young of Karns City, whose family was very loving and caring toward Shirley; her parents, Cliff and Ruth Cooper of Butler; her sisters, Linda Alwine and Sharon Bartmas, both of Butler; and many nieces and nephews.

BRUNER — Friends of Shirley A. Cooper Bruner, who died Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Boylan Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., Butler.Memorial donations may be made in Shirley's honor to the First United Methodist Church of Butler, 200 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001, or to VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.The family would like to extend a special thank you to VNA Inpatient Hospice for the great care they provided to Shirley.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
