The Butler County Historical Society will present “Echoes from Our Past — Historic Cemetery Walk” bringing history to life through costumed actors assuming the characters of Butler County's ancestors Sept. 27 and 28 at the North Side Cemetery, 1002 N. Main St.
The walk does not consist of any ghost stories. Information provided is factual.
Characters will include Bertha Laing Wise, Thomas R. Hoon, Captain Ira McJunkin, Jane Kearns Potts, Thomas Wharton Phillips Jr. and Rolland Spaide.
The event is a collaboration between the Butler County Historical Society, Butler Little Theatre and North Side Cemetery Association.
Tour times are 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sept. 27 and 2 p.m. Sept. 28.
Tickets are $14 for the general public and $10 for historical society members and BLT season ticket holders. Ticket sales will end Sept. 24.

SAXONBURG — The Saxonburg Festival of the Arts will be Sept. 6 and 7.Events include a 5K run and walk, crafts, food, fine arts, photography, Rodfathers car cruise, quilt show, and antique tractors and gas engines.Musical groups will include the Knoch Jazz Band, Gibbons Big Band, Timbeleza Samba Street Funk, Miss Freddye's Blues Band and bagpipers strolling down Main Street.Activities take place along Main Street, in Roebling Park and at St. Luke's Lutheran Church.Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 6, except for the 5K which begins at 8 a.m., and noon to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 7.The photography show is open to amateur photographers age 12 and up. Tom Sheehan, an award-winning Butler artist, will have a one-man show featuring a large cross-section of his work beginning Sept. 12 at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St.An opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 12. There will be music by the Harmony Hot Haus band, and refreshments will be provided.Sheehan's show will then run through Oct. 17.Gallery hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.Admission is free.
