Alvin P. “Butch” Lauer

Alvin P. “Butch” Lauer, 84, of Saxonburg passed away on Saturday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

Born Oct. 12, 1930, in Marwood, Pa., he was the son of Walter Lauer and Lydia Frank Lauer

Butch served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He had worked at Penn-Dixie Cement in the maintenance department, retiring in 1980. He was the maintenance man at Forest Heights Apartments in Butler from 1982 to 1987 and had worked at Concordia as a bus driver and maintenance man.

He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Saxonburg District Sportsman's Association. He enjoyed bowling and spending time at the Sportsman's Club.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel (Kelley) Lauer, who he married Dec. 16, 1949; two sons, Richard A. “Fred” Lauer of Fenelton and William P. (Sherry) Lauer of Natrona Heights; his brother, Floyd (Pearlie) Lauer of Cabot; two sisters, Doris Dudzinski of Cabot and Betty Long of Slippery Rock; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Edna Edwards

LAUER — Friends of Alvin P. “Butch” Lauer, who died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg.Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Deborah Huffmyer officiating.Interment will follow at the Westminster Presbyterian Church Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the Saxonburg District Sportsman's Association, P.O.
