Ogoreuc in top 10 at USA shooting event

Jack Ogoreuc, son of former Slippery Rock University swim coach Bob Ogoreuc, placed among the top 10 recently at the USA Shooting Junior Olympic National Championships at Hillsdale College.

Jack placed seventh in the air rifle U18 division with a score of 1219-67, 10th in the Smallbore U178 division with a 1126-42. He is 15 years old.

Butler wins again in District 25 tourney

CRANBERRY, Venango County — Sammy Vicari belted a grand slam to break the game open early as Butler rolled to a 14-1 win at Cranberry in District 25 Little League baseball tournament play Tuesday.

Sam also singled and had five RBI in the game. Torin Bell had two singles and a double, Nate Gilkey two singles and two RBI, Brett Schnur three singles for Butler.

Winning pitcher Drew Cuny tossed a four-hitter in a complete-game effort.

Butler plays Franklin at 6 p.m. Friday at Meridian in the next round.
