Marilyn K. Cogswell
Marilyn Kaye Holmes Cogswell, 71, of Fritch, Texas, formerly of Grove City, passed away in Clay Township at 1:10 a.m. Friday following a short illness.
She was born on April 4, 1944, in Grove City to Frank Edgar Hinds Jr., and Lois Geraldine Christy Hinds.
She married Edward Richard Holmes Sr. on June 18, 1960, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1981. She later married Dan Edward Cogswell on Feb. 21, 2005, and he survives at the residence in Fritch, Texas.
Marilyn was a nurse and had worked for Allegheny Valley Schools, retiring in 2004. She was a Protestant, and she enjoyed traveling, rock hunting, four-wheeling and researching genealogy.
She is survived by her husband, Dan, at home; four sons, Edward R. Holmes Jr. and his wife, Deborah, of Grove City, Dennis P. Holmes of Sharon, Frank A. Holmes and his wife, Lisa, of New Castle and Dan E. “Buzz” Cogswell Jr. and his wife, Sarah, of Fritch, Texas; two daughters, Tina L. Dye and her husband, Richard, of Slippery Rock and Stacy M. Ferguson and her husband, Daryl, of West Sunbury; her brother, Frank E. Hinds III and his wife, Sandy, of Grove City; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Edward; one son, Kenneth S. Holmes; one daughter, Laura E. Huepel; two sisters, Beverly G. Christy and Deannie L. Cogswell; and one brother, Dale E. Hinds.
COGSWELL — The family of Marilyn Kaye Holmes Cogswell, who died Friday, April 10, 2015, will receive friends at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Charles Dahlstrom, pastor of the Shepherd of the Valley Church in Sharpsville.Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County.
