Man charged with possessing child porn
BUTLER TWP — State police Tuesday arrested a 35-year-old man after they allegedly found suspected child pornography on a computer at his New Castle Road home.
District Judge Kevin O’Donnell arraigned Louis A. Bennetti on a charge of possessing child pornography, a felony. He remains free on $25,000 unsecured bail.
Police said an undercover investigation in November tracked online file sharing of pre-teenage girls engaged in sex to Bennetti’s computer.
Investigators on Jan. 6 went to the suspect’s house with a search warrant. Bennetti, who was at home, handed to police what they described as a confession, court documents said.
He directed officers to the room upstairs where he kept his computer, which he admitted had child pornography on it, according to a police affidavit.
Bennetti allegedly confessed to having searched for the sexually illicit material for a year, and also acknowledged that looking at child pornography was “a shameful thing,” the affidavit said.
A forensic exam of his computer, police said. turned up “numerous” pictures and video files of children engaged in sex.
One of those files depicted a man having intercourse with a girl, documents said.
A preliminary hearing for Bennetti is set for Feb. 9.
