Albert Robert Shook

Albert Robert Shook, 85, of Butler passed away Saturday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born April 5, 1930, in Butler, the son of the late Cecil and Margaret (Adams) Shook.

Albert was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean War.

He retired from Pullman Standard. Albert collected and worked on Bantam and Austin cars.

He was very innovative, making things out of anything, even building his own home. He enjoyed singing and playing guitar, fishing, hunting and hiking with his grandkids.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Shirley Shook of Butler; two daughters, Suzanne Shook of Butler and Connie (Stanley) Pakutz of Butler; his son, Robert Shook of Roanoke, Va.; four grandchildren, Jessie, Kerri, Brian and Brian; five great-grandchildren, Jillian, Samantha, Shea, Matilynn and Zachary; four sisters, Dolly Shook of Chicora, Marge Fisher of Slippery Rock, Betty Elliott of Butler and Velma Shook of Chicora; and four brothers, Carl (Lou) Shook of Butler, Melvin Shook of Butler, Dale (Mary) Shook of West Sunbury and Dennis (Mary Ann) Shook of Butler.

SHOOK — Friends of Albert Robert Shook, who died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., Butler with the Rev. Dave Maitland, pastor, officiating.Military honors will be after the service and will be by the VFW Post 249 and the American Legion Post 778.Interment will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.Contributions may by made in memory of Albert to the First Baptist Church.For more information, visit www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
