Bernice F. Czyzyk
Bernice F. "Fran" Czyzyk, 78, of Lyndora died Thursday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.
Fran was born June 5, 1932, in Farrell, a daughter of the late Frank and Blanche Smith Kowalski.
She was a 1950 graduate of Farrell High School and then earned her registered nursing degree from the Farrell General Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. She worked briefly at the Butler Memorial Hospital until her marriage.
Fran was a homemaker, mother and grandmother and was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Lyndora and presently a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora.
Her husband of 50 years, Theodore A. "Ted" Czyzyk Sr., whom she married April 30, 1955, preceded her in death on June 25, 2005.
Surviving are her son and his wife, Theodore A. Czyzyk Jr. and Theresa Czyzyk of Butler; four daughters and their husbands, Christine and Charles Palace and Jane and Craig Maxwell, all of Butler, Patricia and Rod Schaeffer of Mercer and Julie and Allen Augustine also of Butler; a sister, Mrs. Geraldine "Gerri" Lucas of Sharpsville, Mercer County; and six grandchildren, Adam and Christopher Palace, Terrah Maxwell, Alexis Dumbaugh, Jocelyn Miller and Katie Augustine. Four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive her.
<B>CZYZYK</B> — There will be no public visitation. A Mass of Christian burial for Bernice F. "Fran" Czyzyk, who died Thursday, July 22, 2010, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora.
