Oesterling

Loyal Graham “Red” Oesterling, 94, of Chicora passed away at 3:50 a.m. Saturday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born on July 3, 1919, in Butler to the late Lee Floyd Oesterling and Iva May (Graham) Oesterling.

Mr. Oesterling was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II.

He worked as an auto mechanic.

Mr. Oesterling was a member of the VFW Post 249, the Silver Sneakers and the Moraine Blazing Stars Chapter of Family Campers and RVers.

Mr. Oesterling is survived by his son, John Lee Oesterling and his wife, Rebecca, of Butler; his daughter, Sandra Kay Lintz and her husband, Bob, of Chicora; his seven grandchildren, Janet Greenley of Pittsburgh, Kris-Ann Wilcox of Unalaska, Alaska, Marsha Blum of Butler, Paula DeRunk of West Sunbury, Ryan Oesterling of Ellwood City, Jane Oesterling of Butler and Sara Oesterling of Butler; his 19 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Margaret (Covert) Oesterling, who he married on March 29, 1946, and who passed away on Jan. 19, 2005; his brother; and his sister.

Oesterling — The friends of Loyal Graham “Red” Oesterling, who passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mary J. Kitchen of the North Butler Presbyterian Church officiating.
