Robert C. Nienstedt
Robert C. “Bob” Nienstedt, 97, of Butler passed away at 2:50 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Newhaven Court at Clearview.
He was born Oct. 28, 1916, in Joplin, Mo., to the late Carl C. Nienstedt and Hester Faye (Michaelis) Nienstedt.
Mr. Nienstedt was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.
He earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering at the University of Arkansas.
He worked as a civil engineer at Armco Steel, retiring on March 20, 1982.
Mr. Nienstedt was a former member of the Armco Veterans Club and the Armco Country Club. He was a member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Nienstedt is survived by two nieces, Mary Brauch and her husband, Daniel, of Jamestown, Mo., and Madalyn Scarborough and her husband, David, of Elkton, Md.; and three nephews, Paul Schmoker and his wife, Ruby, of Bear, Del., John Schmoker and his wife, Stephanie, of Blue Ridge, Texas, and Terry Schmoker and his wife, Rose, of Rising Sun, Md.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane M. (Schmoker) Nienstedt, who he married May 9, 1953, and who passed away March 15, 2012; and one brother.
NIENSTEDT — Friends of Robert C. “Bob” Nienstedt, who died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Mary Kitchen of East Butler Presbyterian Church officiating.
