Paula Jean Shannon, 68, of Shenango Township, New Castle, passed away on Sunday at UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle.

She was born on Feb. 12, 1950, in Butler, to Thomas Holt Sr. and Maxine Lois Young Holt.

Paula married John David Shannon on Feb. 6, 1993, and he survives at home.

She had worked as a technician for MSA Mine Safety Appliances in Cranberry Township.

Paula enjoyed going to the casino, fishing and most importantly, spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, John at home; her daughter, Lisa L. McCloskey of Butler; two sons, Douglas S. (Elaine) Skelley of Mercer, and Jason P. (Melanie) Skelley of Ellwood City; two stepsons, Todd D. Shannon and Mark D. Shannon, both of Kenosha, Wis.; four sisters; four brothers; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
