Trooper who shot, killed motorist being treated in Altoona
CRYSTAL SPRING — A state trooper who shot and killed a motorist on the Pennsylvania Turnpike is in a hospital in Altoona today for treatment of his injuries.
State police say the trooper fatally shot a motorist who attacked him following a traffic accident.
Investigators say two motorists were already arguing when the trooper arrived at the collision Tuesday night in Brush Creek Township, Fulton County.
Police say one of the motorists approached the trooper with a pair of aggressive dogs then hit him repeatedly with a flashlight. That’s when the trooper fired, killing the driver.
Authorities identified the slain motorist only as a 46-year-old man.
The trooper was flown to the hospital.
