The 75th anniversary season of Pullman Park will be a busy one.

"Since Pullman Park's inception in 1934, we've had more than 10,000 ballplayers play on this field,"Schnur said. "Our goal is to have another 10,000 play here over the next 50 to 75 years."

Schnur played at Pullman Park in the 1940's, coached at the ballpark from the 1980's through the current decade.

"This place is near and dear to my heart," he said.

Pullman Park's primary tenant will be the Butler BlueSox, which will play 27 of its Prospect Collegiate Wooden Bat League games at Pullman from June through August.

Besides its own promotions, the BlueSox are bringing a pro wrestling show, entitled Brawl at the Ballpark, to Pullman July 11, while the team is on the road playing Lorain.

Northwood Realty, the BlueSox' "presented by" sponsor, will select individuals to throw out the first pitch before each home game. Children will be asked to participate in an essay contest entitled: "Why I would like to throw out the first pitch at a BlueSox game."

Each game will begin with an essay winner delivering the first pitch. Details of this contest will be announced shortly.

The BlueSox remain in need of a few host families to house its ballplayers during the season. Trich said five or six host families are needed. Call 724-263-9874 if interested.
